Chemex / Pour Over

Made from borosilicate glass and fastened with a wood collar and tie, the Chemex Coffeemaker brews without imparting any flavors of its own.

French Press

The French Press works by steeping coffee grounds and hot water in a beaker. Because the grounds steep instead of filter, the coffee tastes better and the natural oils make their way into your favourite cup

A  concentrated form of coffee served in small, strong shots and the base for many coffee drinks. If you're about precision, 7g of coffee will make a single shot and 14g a double. Your Single Espresso is roughly 28-35 grams of Espresso in your cup

Fresh Thinking

What do you know about Coffee?

Do you ever think about the history of your favourite drink? That the coffee bean is actually a berry and that the art of brewing that perfect cup is more accessible than ever before?

The (very brief) History of Espresso...

In the era of steam inventions an Italian inventor named Angelo Moriondo of Turin, Italy wanted to solve a problem and capitalise on the booming cafe industry that was flourishing all over Europe. Coffee was selling, but not fast enough, the average time to brew a beverage was 5-minutes which limited the sales businesses were able to make.

Seeing this opportunity, Moriondo designed a machine to produce faster espresso. In 1884, Angelo was granted a patent for “new steam machinery for the economic and instantaneous confection of coffee beverage”. The machine consisted of a large boiler, heated to 1.5 bars of pressure.

The Humble Coffee Berry...

This is arguably where it all starts. But in fact is starts with ingredients much less plant like.

A High Altitude 4500 feet or more, and rich volcanic soils nutrient dense from 1000's of years of volcanic activity that have left the country of 1000 hills rich with the elements that grow a fine bourbon bean.

Rwanda’s climate, altitude and high-quality Bourbon-variety coffee trees give it the ability to produce high quality coffee for the specialty coffee market.
